L-Carnitine
L-Carnitine is similar to the nonessential amino acid carnitine, a substance found naturally in the body that is involved in the production of energy. The compound assist in breakdown of fats to produce energy required for the many essential biological processes in the body. In more detail, the compound is synthesized in the body from the amino acids lysine and methionine and transfers long-chain fatty acids, such as triglycerides into mitochondria, where they may be oxidized to produce energy. From anti aging perspective, it is important to note that studies on the compound have shown that the body's cardiovascular system can greatly benefit from its intake and is useful in increasing the heart's output and improving it's functioning, as well as stimulating the heart's energy supply and improving cardiac performance. Because of these qualities, supplementation of the compound is very popular among athletes, especially bodybuilders. L-Carnitine - Studies
